[WCG 2009] PAKISTAN vs. INDIA: Epic Battles between Arch Rivals

For the first time in the history of World Cyber Games Pakistan & India the arch rivals of all sports come together face to face. The group draws for WCG Grand Final reveals that India and Pakistan are sharing the same pool for both Counter- Strike and FIFA.

This is definitely going to add up some serious heat to this tournament as the gamers from both the countries would be having an eagle eye on group matches, especially India vs. Pakistan. In the race to qualify for the Single-Elimination, it’s going to be an epic battle as both teams have fair chance in their groups to make it to the top 2.

According to the gaming community of Pakistan this is going to make up for the whole tournament for Pakistan. As we know that Pakistan hasn't dazzled in past WCGs' not even in the Single Group League. We saw some resistance last year when FIFA player Syed Waleed a.k.a 'Mean Machines|Smooth Criminal' and WC III player Bilal Rasheed a.k.a 'Stud' won some amazing matches in Group League. In India this is going to be as big as WCG Ultimate Final. India has got some talent too, especially in FIFA. Everyone is hoping to see the best of gaming in these 2 fixtures of Pakistan vs. India.

Best of luck to both the teams and countries may the best team win!

Excitement roused when three players of Team Mean Machines reached the Semi-Finals of WCG 2009 Pakistan FIFA09 competition; Mean Machines F.J., Sheva & Stony.

GOOD NEWS! WCG 09 Pakistan Update

After my couple of e-mails to WCG Pakistan officials .. Got a letter from Neo Matrix Owner stating: "We have increased the slots for all games i.e. there are now 4 slots for Counter Strike, 4 for Fifa, 4 for Dota, 3 for WC3 and 3 for COD 4. ... we will be covering travel costs for 2 CS teams, 1 Dota team, 2 Fifa players and 1 WC3 player from Karachi. "

Thanks to WiredUp for supporting my issue & Mr. Salman to understand the need of such step in the good spirit of gaming.

WCG 2009 Pakistan or WCG 2009 Punjab ?

Nor am I mentioning the discrimination because I believe it is not, neither is I doing prejudice. But are you shitting me I understand the issue of limited budget & I even appreciate the effort made by Mr. Adil Mir to make this event a reality. Scaling down the event is good from the budget point of view but it has been scaled down to zero. Calling it a National Event; it got 5 cities from Punjab & just 1 city from Sindh. I trust the division should have been in such a manner that atleast it would have got representation form all 4 provinces of the country. According to my understanding 3 slots should be provided to Punjab, 2 for Sindh & 1 for Balouchistan. It seems unfair to some quality gamers in other cities.

I know its a huge favour by Wateen™ to hold WCG Qualifiers but this is simply unacceptable. I believe the management will take an early step towards eradicating many grievances & doing the justice to Pakistani gamers, gaming & WCG itself. World Cyber Games is world biggest cyber gaming event & deserves a lot better, even in Pakistan & from Pakistan.

WCG 09 Pakistan = Crap

As heard & known WCG 09 PK Qualifiers are not going to be organized in Hyderabad. It is sheer unjust to the players of Hyderabad as they are suppose to come here in Karachi on their own expense & qualify for National Finals.

Plus, There is only one slot for FIFA09 players for the National Finals. At least there should be 2 slots if Hyderabad players are suppose to compete in Karachi. One for Karachi winner & one for Hyderabad winner, these are two seperate cities and need their own slots for the National Finals.

WCG 09 Pakistan Schedule

WCG 2009 National Finals will be held on 10th-12th of October 2009 in Lahore. Neomatrix is the official organizing partner for Wateen. The qualifiers will start from 4th of October and will last 3-4 days in Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad.

This year the scale of the event is smaller than last year but we will try that all participants and spectators have a good time.

Last year's winners will get an automatic entry in the Semis as announced last year as well.

Players can register online using the registration form on the following link

WCG 09 Pakistan confirmed !!!

At last a sigh of relief for the gamers of Pakistan. WCG09 Pakistan has been confirmed officially now. I honored to announce this good news.

I talked to Adil Mir of WATEEN™ (WCG Organizer) and they confirmed the event officially. He said "The event is on & we are in finalizing stage. the final dates will be announced soon". On my further inquiry regarding the city & venue of finals, he replied "The venue isn't finalized yet but the finals will be in Lahore, Inshallah".

Better get your gears ready. Practice more and more for the biggest event of the year. Best of luck to all prospect participants. Play hard & play fair !!!

Counter-Strike: Basic Noob Terminologies

Hey, check out some of the common terminologies used in Counter-Strike. I know they are quite the basic ones, but I am helping out the n00bs here. Hope you guys will find them useful enough. Check them out.

SPAWN
It means point where players are born when a round starts. It is also known as base. Counter-Terrorists & Terrorists are born at different points on map.

It is also referred to a birth of a team-mate near the exit point of base, ahead of other team-mates.

DE Maps
These are the maps in which Terrorists objective is to plant a bomb & Counter-Terrorists have to prevent that.

WCG 2009 Pakistan Finals: A Reality or a Dream

After setting new standards for WCG National Finals last year, Wateen™ then & now Strategic Partner is still in the process to announce the event in Pakistan. It seems like this year’s event might not be as good as earlier edition. Recession & financial restrictions might cut back on Wateen™ budget.

The reality says that the situation is not that good even the management says that. It was once quoted that this year’s WCG National Finals has 20:80 chances, with 20% chances of WCG being organized.

Gamerrang Ramzan Challenge 2009

In the history of Pakistani gaming Play TV™ & WiredUp™ Gaming came together to produce first ever cyber gaming TV show "Gamerrang Ramazan Challenge". Gamerrang Challenge is just another version of Championship Gaming Series (CGS) but with a slight difference. Four audition tournaments were held at four different zonal gaming zones of Karachi, for Counter-Strike 1.6. Top 12 teams qualified for the final rounds held at WiredUp™ Gaming.

This effort showed the true dedication, hard work & passion of professional gamers. It was so expected from this tournament to create a better image of gaming in front of society, organizations & media so that gaming could be recognized well here. No doubt Pakistan has a huge volume of gamers including some of the best which got all the potential to upset any international team. Not only this it was also witnessed that none of the past cyber gaming tournaments or events whether WCG National Finals or ESWC Qualifiers had game casters but Gamerrang Challenge became the first one to introduce this side of gaming events in Pakistan as well.
